Local attractions include scenic mountain drives, hiking trails, waterfalls, boating and fishing on several dams, the annual cherry blossom festival at Haenertsburg and a rich agricultural environment of avocados, bananas, citrus, macadamias, tea and timber.
You can also visit the Agatha Spa at the nearby Coach House Hotel for Vichy showers and mud-wraps, full body massages, manicures, pedicures and facials. Kings Walden Garden Manor is perfect for those in need of a luxurious South Africa vacation.
An Elephant Safari at nearby Mooketsi is a must. Walk, ride or simply share quality time with Tembo the Elephant as he wanders through the African bushveld. Elephants have not been seen in the Mooketsi area for 120 years. Tembo arrived from Tshukudu Game Lodge in September 2003. His training with world famous Elephant trainers, Rory and Lindie Hensman, has exceeded all expectations.
For the more sedentary, there is hiking, birding and relaxing with a picnic for one's South Africa holiday. The countryside is ablaze with azaleas, cherry blossoms, camellias and rhododendrons. A 70 kilometre (43.4 miles) ride though tea plantations, gum forest and rainforest with streams and dams is very relaxing and refreshing.
